Micro-enterprise and menstrual waste

We had a very inspiring talk with Mr. and Mrs. Choudury from the Sulabh School Sanitation Club. The couple is eagerly pushing the stigmatized topic of menstrual hygiene. Recently they started a program to teach women how to manually produce napkins out of wood pulp and textiles. The women then can sell the napkins as a micro-enterprise to vending machines in schools. However, they use partly plastic textiles and are looking for environmental friendlier options. x-runner needs to deal with the issue of menstrual hygiene just as anyone else in the field of sanitation. From a product perspective menstrual waste poses the biggest danger to any toilet. From a girl’s perspective it remains one of the most difficult things to reach puberty and to deal with a monthly burden.
