For the x-runner team the year 2015 resembles a big and bright firework!
The greatest excitement, of course, is our progress in the field: we tripled the number of customer households in the past year! We are immensely proud to be serving over 2000 individuals and managing almost daily pick-up operations. Today, to have a “family’s” dry toilet fills our customers with pride and joy! They know that they now live in a healthier and cleaner home, they can invite their friends over for dinner, and they feel empowered by having made the right choice for their family!
Major developments have also happened within the team: it was the first time that some of our earliest members left to pursue new career paths or further academic degrees. For the remaining team many changes followed: Natalia Benavides is now our COO, Raúl Briceño is our new Sales Manager, and our initial cleaning and maintenance staff, Celia Sedano and Milayda Sedano, have been promoted to supervise installations and customer service.
Another surprise in 2015 was the incredible amount of media coverage on our work.
Especially the long awaited attention from within Peru came right at the beginning of the year when x-runner was featured in the country’s leading weekly news magazine. After that, TV interviews followed, appearances on major festivals and forums in Lima and abroad, and CEO Isabel Medem was named a Gifted Citizen 2015 and Peruvian of the Day in a widely viewed TV channel.
We also won the StartUp Perú competition, thus initiating a long-awaited and sustainable collaboration with the Peruvian government. x-runner was also named the first B Corp in Peru, proving that we meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability, and aspire to use the power of markets to solve social and environmental problems!
As you can see, we have paved the way for more to come and we are looking forward to what 2016 will bring and to seeing many of our endeavours prosper this year!
